The Chardon Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that happened Saturday afternoon on I-90 eastbound.
According to authorities, the crash happened near Vrooman Road in Painesville around 12:23 p.m.
A 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck was traveling east in the left lane when it drove off the left side of the highway and into the grassy median. The truck drove between two bridges that go over the Grand River and plummeted approximately 80 feet, coming to a rest at the river bank, troopers said.
The driver of the truck was later identified as 34-year-old Michael Varga of Painsville, according to troopers.
Varga was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead on the scene, according to authorities.
It is not clear if alcohol is a factor in the crash and the incident remains under investigation, troopers said.
